Fayetteville Restaurants
Pies & PintsGreat pizza and great beer! Located in down town Fayetteville. From Miller Ridge, travel south on Rt 19 app. 7 miles and take Rt 16, Main Street, into Fayetteville. At the second stop light in town, turn right. Travel approximately 2 blocks and the resturant is on the left.
Cathedral CaféYou are not in Fayetteville until you have been in the café. A beautifully restored church including original stain glass windows that is located in downtown Fayetteville. Serving breakfast and lunch 7 days a week until 4pm.
Dirty Ernie’s Rib PitRibs, chicken, pasta, steaks--yum. This is a great place for a bigger group, on busy nights and when you want to have a relaxed atmosphere. From Miller Ridge, travel south on Rt 19 app 6 miles to the New River Gorge Bridge. Take the first left onto Keller Ave and you will see the restaurant as you pull off of Rt 19. This is one of our favorite places to refer guests!! Only open April through Oct.
Area Sightseeing
Canyon Rim Visitors CenterPicnic area, museum, exhibits, videos, boardwalk and scenic views of the New River Gorge. A must stop when visiting the New River!
Directions: Turn right going South on Rt 19, 6 miles to Fayette Station Road. Take a left and then your first right.
Hawks Nest State ParkGift shop, museum, aerial tramway, scenic overlooks, and jet boat excursions.
Directions: Turn right going South on Rt 19 to the next exit onto Rt 60. Travel right going west on Rt 60 towards Anstead. Travel through Anstead, Hawks Nest is on the left.
Babcock State ParkOperating Glade Creek Grist Mill, scenery, fishing lake, and hiking.
Directions: Turn right going South on Rt 19 to the next exit onto Rt 60 East. Travel approximately 15 miles and following signs to turn right.
Summersville LakeSwimming, Snorkeling, Beach, and Park.
Directions: Turn Left going North on Rt 19 to Rt 129W taking a left turn. Continue for 7 miles.
Exhibition Coal Mine and Youth MuseumUnderground tour (35 minutes), schoolhouse, superintendent’s house, log cabin, barn, moonshine still, blacksmith shop, and country store.
Directions: Turn right going South on Rt 19 towards Beckley.
New River Gorge National Park Hiking Trails
Mill Creek Trail HeadDirections: Turn right going South on Rt 19 to Rt 60 East. Travel into the town of Anstead. Turn left by Patriot Auto Sales. Follow the road to the bottom of the hill.
Wolf Creek Trail HeadBeautiful view of the Gorge and New River Gorge Bridge.
Directions: Turn right onto Rt 19 South. Travel 6 miles to the New River Gorge Bridge. Turn left at the first right into Fayetteville. Go through 2 stop lights and then take the first left onto Fayette Avenue. At the 3-way stop, go right onto Park Drive. Continue past Huse Memorial Cemetery to the Fayette Town Park. Take the second right into the Park and stay to the left. This trail head accesses many different trails.
Long Point Trail HeadDirections: Turn right onto Rt 19 South. Take a left at the first stop light into Fayetteville. Travel through two stop lights in town. Continue to Gatewood Road on the left (adjacent from Sherry’s Beer City). Travel 3 miles to Kaymore #1 access road. The parking lot is a few hundred yards on the left.
Gauley River National Recreation Area
Picnic AreaPavilions with picnic tables, play ground, trails to the lake, located just past the Summersville Dam on Rt 129W off of Rt 19.
Fishing AccessTravel on W on Rt 129 crossing the Summersville Dam and take the second left to the river access. You will drive down to a large parking lot. There are many tails to the river from the parking lot. You can also check out the hydroelectric dam while there.
Summersville LakeSwimming, Snorkeling, Beach, and Park.
Directions: Turn Left going North on Rt 19 to Rt 129W taking a left turn. Continue for 7 miles. The lake access is on the right.
Climbing, Swimming, Cliff JumpingTravel N on Rt 19, cross the Gauely River (lake) and take the first right into a parking area. Walk perpendicular to the high way following a trail across a field and into the woods. This trail will take you to many climbing spots and swimming spots. Please climb, swim, and jump at your own risk. This is a long distance to bring someone out who may get hurt. Please be careful, Songer Whitewater is not responsible for injuries—you’re on your own!
